Week 22 and my dear sister to be Emily

We had a lovely and eventful weekend.

Friday night we babysat Keegan for a few hours. He took a bath and ran wildly around the house. The kid loves water. To cute! We tried to watch the opening cermonies but 2.5 year olds are not into sitting on the couch for three hours. Oh well. By the end of the night Matt and I were exhusted. This is good training.
Angela moved in on Friday as well. Keegan adored her and used her as a climbing post. We are so excited to have Angela in our home, she is such a blessing of a sister.

Saturday we spent with Grandma and Grandpa, Nick and Angie and Angela. We had a nice brunch and than went back to G and G's house for conversation and homemade marble squares. YUM! It is always nice to see Nick and Angie, they are living the fun life in Las Vegas but we know they will return to their home state of CO someday.

Saturday evening was Emily's bachelorette party. What a fun group of girls. My mom and I headed downtown to a hotel to meet up with the crazy bunch. We enjoyed some great mexican food and margarita's (virgin for me of course). We sampled champagne for the wedding, watched Emily open all her sexy gifts, and giggled a lot.

We went out to a bar downtown called Sing Sings. Two pianos are faced towards each other and the muscians battle each other and tease the crowd. My mom and I did not stay to long but it was fun to go out for a bit. Mason was very active in the loud atmosphere, dancing all around.

A dirty gift.....

A shot before we hit the town!

All is well on the pregnancy front. No new news. I will try and take a picture soon of the belly.

week 21: I am just not myself these days

Things are moving right along. I have to admit it took me by suprise that we are having a boy. I told myself I didn't care either way but secretly I was hoping for a little girl first. In this weird egocentric way I wanted to see myself in a little girl. I wanted to share the relationship with a daughter that I have with my mom. So for one day I struggled with my feelings about this. I talked to my mom about it in length and she explained how different a relationship is with a son. So very special and a blessing like no other. How you love your children the same but the way you share time with them is different. The next morning I woke up so excited to have a boy that I have not stopped day dreaming about him since.

Now our families were so excited. I think my dad was also a little bummed also because he had his heart set on a girl but he didn't skip a beat to express that another grandson is more than perfect. My mom and I have spent countless hours on the phone talking about little boys. She has (as always) helped me to focus on all the wonderful gifts in our lives. She also has stirred my over compulsive need to plan and decorate. She kept saying "how will you decorte the nursery" and lets start researching the safety write ups on cribs and strollers and car seats. Than she gets Matt excited and all of us just sit and talk about this little guy we have never met but we all love so much.

I think we have picked the bedding....

but this one is in the running still...

We have a few months to figure these things out.

In other news, Matt and I have been busy with home projects. Angela is moving in this Friday and we have finally finished the downstairs. I will take some photos so we can share them with you.

The weather in Denver over the past month has been extremely hot. This past week we had several days of 100 degree weather and we have not had rain since June. I dislike the hot weather and being pregnant I dislike it even more. I have been looking at the Anchorage forecast daily and trying to mentally take myself to the cooler temperatures of Alaska. My feet are swollen and I officially have "cankles." My rings do not fit and I am not sleeping well. I have carpal tunnel. So those are my complaints. I am so jealous of women who love being pregnant. I keep trying to tell myself that I feel that way, but I don't. I know the end result is going to be so amazing but this part is not for me. I am not unhappy just uncomfortable. I am just being honest.

So my most recent pregnant story (about irrational behavior) took place this past Friday. Matt and I decided we would head to the mountains on Friday to stay with my folks. I had to get out of the heat. We have air conditioning but for some reason escaping was what I needed. We had a wondeful dinner with the fam. Emily and Keegan were there because Cade had been out of town on business. We sat outside at the picnic bench until 9. Enjoying the cool mountain air. We made it inside to lounge on the cool leather sofa's and watch air jaws on shark week. Keegan, Matt, Emily and I shared M&M's and I felt really relaxed. By 11 we made our way downstairs to bed. I climbed in, the bed squeked a lot. I couldn't get comfortable. Matt groaned and I said get up get your clothes on were going back to golden. He didn't argue because he could see that the numerous nights of no sleep had finally caught up with me. I woke the family up and kissed them goodbye and we sped off into the night. By the time we got home our house was pleasant and I slept a solid 7 hours. Twice as much as I have slept in a while.

Mason Charles Gilbreath and Piney lake photos

Well as you guessed from the heading, we are having a boy! He is going to be big boy and is weighing in at 15 oz:) Matt is really praying for a 6'5" left handed pitcher!

His weight is slightly above average for a baby at 20 weeks but as my cousins have reminded me, big babies run in the family. Even if they are born average, they grow quickly. We feel so blessed that baby is healthy and mama too! Thanks to all our friends and family that have kept us in your prayers.

Here are a few ultra sound photos, I can not really tell what is going on. For the photo shoot our lil' guy was sitting breach with his feet up near his head and for me it was difficult to tell what we were looking at. The ultrasound tech has being doing this for 20 years so I have confidence in her abilities.

Somewhere in here is a penis?

legs stretched out...but only for a minute!

Lastly I posted a slide show of the some of the wonderful photos our dear friend josh took at my dad's 60th. Hope everyone is having a wonderul week.

Suprise Birthday for Dad and weeks 18 and 19

Sorry I have not written in a while. We have been a busy lil' family over the past weeks. My dad turned 60 this past weekend and our family threw him a surprise birthday party at Piney Lake. We have been planning this since April and it turned out wonderful. About 50 of our closest friends and family made the trek into the mountains to celebrate with my dad.

Matt and I decided to make this a little vacation and we headed up to the mountains early Wednesday morning. Piney Lake is a camp ground just outside of Vail (about 10 miles north) in the White River National Forest. Cade and I grew up camping there so we knew this would be special location to celebrate with our dad.

Our family had rented some "pop up" campers for our stay and I have to admit I am so thankful we did. I wasn't sure sleeping on the rocky ground would be as easy as it use to be (prior to the bump) for five nights. The pop up was just perfect. Those portable trailers are really slick. We had a king size mattress and a double on the other side and a table, stove and lots of storage. The dogs even got a nice plush bed.

On Wednesday we just set up camp and explored the streams and nearby forest. I had decided to prepare our meals prior to leaving home. So we dined on Spaghetti and peppers and hit the sack early. It was really warm in the high country (high 80's) and this pregnant mama was hot. I insisted we leave some of the "pop up" windows unzipped so I could fall asleep. At about 3 am we woke up freezing, even our dogs were shivering. OOps! We had to get them covered up and cuddled which in return got us warm.

Thursday was relatively overcast and only in the 60's which was AWESOME. We decided to take a good hike back towards the gore range. It is absolutely beautiful. The doggies got to run leash free and must have ran and swam 10 miles. Our hike was roughly 5 miles. We only saw two people on the trail. Thursday evening we spent getting ready for my mom and Dad and my Uncle Darrell and Aunt Annie to arrive. They didn't get there until 11:45. We felt so bad for them so Matt got out of bed and helped them set up camp.

Friday was busy getting ready for the party and keeping it from my dad. Up at the lake there is a lodge and cabins. My mom had rented a cabin so we could shower and have a place to get prepared. I am still unsure how we kept all of this from my dad. I think part of it was the fact that my dad had to have two teeth pulled a few days before arriving and the pain killers might have helped him go to "la la" land during all of this. I will post some party pictures as soon as Josh gets them downloaded:)

All of the guest started to arrive around 5. We had told my dad that we would be having dinner up at the lodge to celebrate his birthday, so when he and my mom arrived about 5:30 he was shocked to see all of these people waiting for him. He teared up and was truly touched. Dinner was great and afterwards we showed the slide show Matt and I had prepared of my dad, our family, and friends through the years. Everyone was teary.

I am such a lucky girl to have such an amazing dad. Its hard to believe he is 60 (he doesn't act like it) but I feel so blessed to be his daughter. He has taught me so much and with my mom made me the person I am today. He is a wonderful grandfather to Keegan and I can not wait for our baby to know him. Love you dad!

This is one of my favorite pictures of my dad and I. This was our spot when I was little. He use to take me here with a milkshake and fries and dip my toes in the cold water.

Sorry this post is so long......

On the pregnancy front, things are going well. I am getting huge or at least that is how I feel. I have about 50 mosquito bites from the camping trip because they love pregnant women and pregnant women can't use deet. I bought a non-deet spray but I am pretty sure those harmful chemicals are the way to keep them at bay. That is my only real complaint of the trip. We go next Tuesday to find out if we are naming this lil' one Madison or Mason. I of course will let you know. It seems pretty fair that all of our voters are tied on the issue, I mean it is a 50% chance either way.

Week 19, I am not for the full body shot because my legs look horrible with all the bites.

Last night Matt said to me, "we are going to have one huge baby, I am thinking 8 lbs" that's great I love to imagine how that is going to fit out of that area. I told my mom about his comment this morning and she said "oh definitely, I am thinking 9 lbs. at least!" Well thanks guys and god bless epidurals.

Matt's Birthday, the 4th and week 17

Once again I did poorly on the picture taking. Part of my excuse is that we need a new camera because our battery does not stay charged for very long.
We had a wonderful 4th and spent the evening with friends. The night was full of good food, fireworks, laughter and beverages. As I always say we have the coolest friends.
Saturday we celebrated Matt's birthday up north with his family. We had some excellent grub; chicken, potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and fruit. AND of course cake, Matt likes confetti cake even though he is 27. His birthday was actually the 7th, he is lucky kid, 7/7. We celebrated at home last night with steak and crab and some barefoot contessa marble squares.

We also received our first set of baby clothes from Matt's older brother's family.

I am feeling well for the most part. Sleeping has been a little frustrating because I have never had a problem doing it. I am normally a stomach sleeper so depending on one side (left) is different. BUT when you get tired enough it doesn't matter. I am also feeling our lil' one move. Baby is a jumper and it feels like a bag of popcorn is popping in my belly...mmmm popcorn sounds good. My appetite is good. No crazy cravings as of yet but I do think I should invest in a watermelon company. I can not get enough of that stuff.
You might notice we added a poll to our blog. We will find out the sex on July 29th and we our curious what most people think. I am carry high and wide if that helps.

Week 16, no ultrasound

I thought we were having an ultra sound this morning but come to find out my insurance only allots for so many of them and 16 weeks is not one of them. We will have to wait until July 29th when we will find out if our baby is going to be a girl or boy. The appointment today was otherwise uneventful. We did get to hear the heartbeat, which sounded great. The doctor said everything is going extremely well. I was concerned about swelling because I can not get my rings on but my feet and face are not being affected. I have made the effort to reduce sodium and of course drink plenty of water but those rings won't fit. So to advert having my wedding ring cut off like my mom did while pregnant with me, I am going to leave them in our safe. I have gained 5 lbs and the doctor says I am right on track.

Overall things are moving along quite well. I have begun my nesting phase and been reorganizing our house for Angela and baby G. We have a few busy weeks ahead and we are really looking forward to spending time with friends and family. Matt, Fischer (my best friends little boy) and my Dad's birthdays fall in July along with one of my favorite holidays, the fourth. We are going to spend the fourth at our dear friends Trisha and Ryan's. I will do my best to get some good pictures posted on here.
