Old friends, new friends, and first kiss

Its Monday! And I have a lot to do but I had to do a quick blog update because these pictures are just to cute.

We started our weekend off with a Friday lunch play date in Arvada at Megan and Sam's house.

Its hard to find a playgroup with kids around the same age as yours but blessings present themselves once again.

Last time my friend Ruthie was in town she suggested some moms for Mason and I to get together with...I have met up with one of the moms (Megan) in Golden recently. We totally hit it off and so did our boys! So when Megan asked if we would like to have lunch at her house because Ruthie was in town...we were all for it.

Megan set up such a wonderful lunch with lots of fun activities to keep the kiddos busy and I got to catch up with my beautiful friend Ruthie as well as get to know two new moms and their kiddos.

Ruthie wears motherhood well, she is always glowing! Jack just turned 1 and is quite the big dude...not surprising Ruthie and Mike are very tall. He is such a happy go lucky kid...love love love him!

This is Sam, Megan's lil' guy. He has all the wonderful curls and I love his shy lil' personality. He was a good sport about sharing his toys and his house with all these kiddos.

And the only girl, Chloe. She held her own quite well with these boys BUT she did not resist my lil' man's kisses!

Mason loves to give kisses. It might be my fault, when he is being rough I tell him to give hugs and kisses....now he just gives kisses.

I see him out on our deck kissing his toys, our dogs, his blankie...ah my lil' lover man melts a momma's heart.

Chloe will become a big sister to twin girls in October! Her parents both went to Mines and her mother is french. Chloe speaks both French and English...these are the kind of girls we are looking for:) When Sophie (Chloe's mom) called her husband to tell him his daughter got her first kiss I am not sure he was as excited. I told her my son is a respectable boy, I promise:)

This age is SO fun! I just love all these little moments that I try to gobble up on a daily basis.

We have some seriously high maintenance dogs!!!

Life from Hunter's perspective: Life has been different since that fifth pack mate came into the picture. Now that he is bigger he is ok. He loves to crawl on me and kiss my nose and pull my ears ALL THE TIME. But I can't complain, the summer days are easy, the early morning walks/runs are pleasant, and the loads of unplanned treats from that toddler creature are awesome....oh yeah and did I mention the plastic I love to eat? If that toddler creature throws it over into the yard, I eat it, and than I throw it up in the middle of the night, this makes my human dad not so happy.

A few weeks ago I got so sick I just stopped eating, this has never happened to me, so my mom had to take me to the vet for a nice $170.00 visit. Luckily I passed all that plastic and didn't have to have surgery because that human dad said he would put an end to that...YIKES!!! I am on the mend and just ate another plastic bowl courtesy of that little human, hopefully it comes out ok. Thank god they still love us furry kids.

Life from Fischer's Prospective (Use Eor voice while reading): When are they going to get rid of that new pack mate? I spend more time outside these days. They pay more attention to him than me, especially my mom who use to only want to pet and cuddle me.

In the morning I shake my head outside that little dude's room in hopes he will wake up because than mom and dad will get up and tend to him...which means I will get fed.

Last night, I left some huge piles of poo on the hard wood floors, hey I did it by the door. My mom kept mumbling "all I do is clean up poop these days, I should have been a nurse." Hey I only do it once in a while, that human thing does it all the time.

I am really looking forward to the day they get rid of that little dude but something tells me that is never going to happen. At least I can look forward to my mountain vacations with papa and grandma, I get away with everything up there.

Man I miss the days of being a puppy when my mom only had me...I guess those are a thing of the past.

Seriously love our dogs but some weeks they are more work than Mason!!!

By sam he's got it! Beware of Bragging Mother...

Its hump day! Hope everyone is enjoying it...I am refering to Wednesday...sickos!!!

When you live in a sports obsessed household, milestones such as your little tyke throwing and catching the ball are a huge deal.
Angela do not kill me for posting this:)

When Ang was about 3, her older brothers decided it was time for her to learn to play ball for real. They would hit her grounders and pop flys for hours. If they hit her they would say "Wear it." This undoubtedly made her tough when it came to sports and it also made her one damn good softball player...really she was a hell of a short-stop and All conference many times.

So I know what is in store for Mason!

The Armstead's are fairly sports inclined so my genes are contributing a little but the Gilbreath's, it runs through their veins. Competitive is an understatement.

SO.....

When Matt began working on Mason's ball skills the second they tore him from my tummy, I was not suprised. OK I fib a little.

The throwing of the ball came natural (about 10 months) but the catching part has taken a while...but he did it! Three times in a row, so we are marking it official that July 19th 2010 Mason started his sports career.

I don't think you should push things on your kids just because you like them but really Mason loves balls, it was his first real word and it usually is the first thing he wants when he wakes up. Just wait until he realizes there are two with him at all times...come on if you know me you are not suprised I said that!

Breaking and Entering to escape the heat

I realized the second we drove up my parents driveway that I did not have my house key because we had Matt's car. They don't trust him enough to give him one of his own...just kidding! They would probably give him one before me:) We were suppose to make extras and we didn't. You always have the looming list of minor things that need to be done but somehow days and than months go by until WHAM! we should have done that....

Have no fear super Matt is here!
My parents are not the best about locking up their house (parents see how easy it would be for someone to come and steel your stuff!)
I never had the need to sneak out in high school but if I did I would have found a way back in. On a side note: I did plenty of mischievous things in high school but I was really good at not getting caught. So good luck Mason, your dad and I might be hard to trick.
We did get out of the triple digit heat but it was still quite toasty in the mountains...nothing a little sprinkler won't fix!
My parents were away on business so we had the place to ourselves but please let me note that I like it better when they are there for a few reasons:
1. They are fun to be around
2. They chase Mason around the woods
3. They cook yummy food and provide nice beverage
4. They chase Mason around the basketball court
5. They let Mason sleep upstairs in my old room and we sleep downstairs thus if he wakes up early they get him...a little sleeping in is a huge gift these days.
6. They chase Mason around!!!
So moral of the story is its usually a semi-vacation for us...I do realize I have some really Awesome parents but they tell me they just love being grandparents...OK I'll buy that.

Sunday we took a little 2 hour stay cation to Evergreen Lake
This little town is only 20 minutes from us and I love it!!!
We walked around the lake and into town to grab some dinner and ice-cream.
I wore sandals for some odd reason and I am paying for it with some serious blisters.

Mason is pretty good in the stroller but we had to let him burn off some steam. Have you ran down a hill recently? Its really fun...How about rolling down the hill? Also really fun but the best part is all the other park goers looking at you like you have lost your mind...hey people its called "active parenting" or me wishing I was still a kid.
I'll clap to that....it was a nice weekend!

Dreaming of the 4th....

Our fourth of July looked like this...foggy, rainy, and IN THE 50's! We cuddled in with movies, wine, and beef tenderloin...it was WONDERFUL! Well we didn't actually cuddle the beef tenderloin, we sat at the table to eat that. Anyways I digress...

We even did some living room camping while watching the Macy's fireworks in NY. Kids these days have it so good...we had to build our own living room tents with blankets and couch cushions. Man did I hate cleaning up the mess. Ok I digress again..

The rain was a nice treat and I am sure if I lived with it as the norm I would begin to achingly miss the Colorado sunshine.
BUT I will never miss this HEAT. It is melting me/us!!!

I keep chanting this mantra;

"You could live in Phoenix where its 115, quit being a baby its only 93"

and than I turn on the news to find out
the forecast for Denver tomorrow is 105...so much for that mantra.

So my new mantra is "heading to the hills....9,000-ft is where we will chill!"

I like to rhyme.

Keep hydrated. Keep your pets inside. And keep those elderly folks in your prayers who don't have air conditioning!
AND have a nice weekend!

Fireworks and mice not really related topics or are they?

I bought the "kid" pack of fireworks...look who likes them best. Need I say more?

Mason did not care for them. Can you see the pure fear in his eyes making sure his Papa will protect him?

It so confusing that a kid who will climb and jump off pretty much anything is so afraid of fireworks but I hear an Uncle of his was the same way. This unnamed uncle is also a big strong football player type that is fearless EXCEPT when a mouse enters the house. This uncle has luckily outgrown his fear for fireworks but the mice well he is in therapy for that one!

Disclaimer: If aforementioned uncle reads this "we miss you and hope you are doing well in Leadville, mice live in leadville just to let you know" Love your crazy sister-in-law!

One picture is all I got...and its of the Ace Hi Tavern

Our little town of Golden does "First Friday" from June to October. A lot of cities are doing this but if you don't know what it is, merchants and restaurants keep their doors open later than usual on the first Friday of the month. Golden has turned theirs into a street fair with cheap eats, music, and Coors beer on tap. We arranged a night out with friends to start off the weekend of the fourth as well as celebrate my hubby's birthday and passing of the PE. My folks took Mason for the night (only my second night away from him....EVER) and we let our hair down. We wound up in an old college hangout called the ACE. Many a drunken night occurred in this little dive bar that I just adore.

I missed my lil' man more than I thought but being out with friends and each other was really good for the soul. Golden is our home and we really love it here. Thanks everyone who came out....we have some of the world's best friends.

Snow boots in July....oh me oh my

Happy Monday! I told a little fib a few weeks ago about trying to be more diligent with our posts...so I am going to try again. I have lots of photos but not a lot of order to all of them so I will share them in pieces.

My handsome, tall, and usually sweet son challenges me everyday. The irony of his demands keeps me laughing...its a battle to get these snow boots on in the winter but when the mercury hits 95 they are a must wear. Stay cool people...its gonna be a scorcher today.
